Christmas trees go hand in hand with the holidays, and it has been that way since long before any of us were born. Because they are such an inescapable symbol of the season, it’s only natural for artists and DIY enthusiasts to use them as decorative accents. You may have your heart set on doing the same.

Unfortunately, Christmas trees can prove challenging for those with limited drawing or painting experience. A simple triangle painted green may get the point across, but it’s unlikely to match your vision for the project. How can you bring that vision to life if you lack the talent to do so? Well, you have a few choices. You can hire someone to do it for you. You can purchase ready-made decorations from the store. Or, you can rely on the stencils you find here at Stencil Giant! Ding-ding, we have a Christmas winner!

Newcomers to drawing often find that Christmas trees pose a unique challenge. The tree itself can be difficult because of its multi-dimensional shape, its ornate branches, and its chaotic interior. The project only grows more complex when you add in all the necessities – lights, stars, bows, etc. By the time you’re done, you may have created something completely unrecognizable. This leads to frustration and embarrassment, neither of which has much to do with the holiday spirit.

With a Christmas Tree Stencil, all of that can be happily thrown out of the nearest window.

Stencils even the playing field, giving fledgling artists and experienced creatives the same opportunity to let their imaginations fly. This is the truest form of art, after all. It’s not about talent, and it’s certainly not about developed skill. Yes, both of those can be important components in an artist’s development. Yes, they are certainly integral when determining an artist’s “success.” But art at its core is about putting something new and fresh and exciting into the world – not just copying what people have done before.

It may seem to you that this philosophy is at diametric odds with stenciling, but we would argue otherwise. Yes, the stencil itself is the epitome of a “cookie cutter” tool. But it’s only the starting point! From there, you choose the paints, the colors, the canvas, and the overall theme of your project. You might as well call paint itself a tool of the uninspired!

We’re proud of all the stencils in our collection, but we have a soft spot for these Christmas Tree templates. Perhaps it’s because we’re such big fans of the holiday. Perhaps it’s because this is a Christmas tradition dating back 500 years! Yes, it’s true. Diaries from Germany dating back to 1605 show that villagers decorated evergreen trees with fruits and nuts to celebrate Christmas. Today’s Christmas trees are more likely to be decorated with tinsel and LED lights, but the concept remains the same. To provide stencils through which others can incorporate this timeless decoration into their holidays gives us a very merry feeling, indeed!

Enjoy!
